Spring Has Sprung! And So Have These Cards—7 Players to Check & Track

The first crop of surprise late twenties sluggers have hit the scene, and regardless of long-term value, are creating sales all over the place. A couple of big names are off to great starts as well.

This is not buying or investment advice. I’m simply reporting the data I’m seeing. Please do your own research and make your own decisions. Just because cards have increased in value up to this point, it doesn’t mean they will continue to do so.

I’m getting all of this data from either the the Market Movers or Card Hedge platform. There are not my platforms, I’m simply a user and affiliate of them. If you want to do your own research, you can grab a free trial to Market Movers with code BALLCARDGENIUS. You’d also get 20% off of your membership forever if you wanted to continue once your trial has been completed. You can also grab a free trial for Card Hedge as well.

These tools aren’t perfect; no tool is. I’ve seen instances where a graded card was being included in the raw numbers, which might cause a huge spike in value. So trust, but verify.

There is seriously nothing like the Spring Training experience, both as a fan and a card flipper.

As a baseball fan, if you’ve never attended in person, I highly recommend! As a card flipper, if you aren’t checking in on daily performances, I highly recommend!

Through chat, I tried to keep things as real-time as possible, but in case you missed the mentions, here are a few cards you might want to take a look at, track, and potentially make a move on (buying or selling!).

1. Kevin Alcantara, Cubs

The Cubs’ #6 prospect is off to a hot start, knocking around 5 hits out of 8 at-bats, doubling once, swiping a bag, and driving in 3 RBI.

This article from 3 weeks ago said he’s not ready for the bigs yet, but also went on to say:

Measured at 6-6 and already possessing incredible power, making hard contact on nearly half of his swings in 2024, he has all of the tools to develop into a star player.

Still only 22 years old, he is just scratching the surface of his potential. An outfield group of him, Crow-Armstrong and Tucker has to have fans excited about what the future could hold for the franchise.

His 2021 Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto was selling for below $30 for most of the last 90 days, even falling to around $15, but sold 3 times on 2/21 for an average of just about $33.

The lowest-available BIN on eBay right now is an HGA 9 for $45.
