The Flip Files: Why Timing Might Be Your Most Valuable Tool
In the hobby, timing can make or break a flip. These recent sales show how being early — or waiting just long enough — turned small buys into nice wins.

This is not buying or investment advice. I’m simply reporting the data I’m seeing. Please do your own research and make your own decisions. Just because cards have increased in value up to this point, it doesn’t mean they will continue to do so.
Time/timing is such a crucial element when it comes to flipping sports cards:
When an auction ends
How long shipping takes
How close you sell to release date
How fast you act on a trend
It actually might be one of the most important factors.
The majority of the flips I found on COMC came from me being in the right place at the right time. The great deals I find on CollX come from me spending time in the morning, middle of the day, and evening searching for cards. Not to mention the power of being the first to list a card of a new release, or letting time pass before listing your card so you can be the monopoly.
I can (and probably should) do a whole post on time/timing because it can be that valuable.
For now, let me dive into a few flips of where the clock was my friend (but could have easily been my enemy). And remember, you can see all of the cards I’ve flipped here, along with what I paid and the resulting profit.
